Book Review: The Analect of Confucius

About this Book "The Analects of Confucius" is  collection of Confucius's quotes. There is a lot of debate about when this book is written. Some scholars believe that this book was written by his students shortly after the death of Confucius. Other scholars believe that it was gradually completed within two or three hundred years after the death of Confucius. This book is the cornerstone of Confucius ideology. The original "The Analects of Confucius" was handwritten on bamboo. This is because the Chinese did not invent paper until 105 AD and did not invent printing press until 80 AD. Before the invention of paper, in China, people usually used brushes and ink to record text on thin strips of bamboo. Each strip allows two dozen words to be written. Holes are insert into the strips and strips that belongs to the same book are bounded together into a scroll. The Analects consists of twenty scrolls.
